FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Welcome to May Meadows

Moving somewhere new can feel strange. We'll take time to get to know you, explain what will happen and help you settle in at your own pace.

A Place To Belong

You can be yourself here

We want to get to know the real you: what makes you laugh, what you enjoy, what you find difficult and what is important to you. You do not have to pretend to be anyone else.

You deserve to feel welcome, cared for and included in the place you call home.

Your bedroom

You will have your own bedroom. You can bring the things that matter to you and help choose how your room looks, so it feels like your space. Adults will respect your privacy while making sure you are safe.

Day By Day

Everyday life

Life here includes ordinary days, fun days, busy days and quiet days. We will plan them with you.

School and learning

We'll help you get to school, learn and plan for your future.

Things you enjoy

There will be time for hobbies, activities, trips and trying new things.

Family and friends

We'll support safe contact with the people who are important to you.

Feeling well

We'll help you look after your physical health and how you feel inside.

Meals and routines

You can help choose meals and know what is happening each day.

Celebrations

Birthdays, achievements and things that matter to you are worth celebrating.

Time to yourself

You can have quiet time, relax and enjoy your own interests.

Your choices matter

You will have a say in your care, your room, food, activities and plans for the future. Adults may not always be able to say yes, but they will listen, explain decisions clearly and help you be part of what happens next.

People Who Can Help

Who can I talk to?

You do not have to manage a worry on your own. You can choose who feels right to talk to.

Key worker

Your key worker will spend time getting to know you and can help with questions, plans or worries.

Registered Manager

You can ask to speak to the Registered Manager if there is something you want them to know.

Residential team

You can talk to any adult in the home and choose someone you feel comfortable with.

Social worker / advocate

You can ask to speak privately to your social worker or an independent advocate who can help you have your say.

Your Voice

If something doesn't feel right

It is always okay to say how you feel, ask for help or tell someone that you are worried. You will not be in trouble for speaking up.

Talk to someone

Choose an adult you trust and tell them what is worrying you.

Make a complaint

If you're unhappy about something, you have the right to complain and be taken seriously.

Tell us something privately

If something feels unsafe or wrong, you can share it without giving your name.
