Safeguarding
Keeping children safe is at the heart of May Meadows.
Safeguarding is not a policy on a shelf — it shapes our routines, our decisions and every day of life here.
Our commitment
May Meadows is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child and young person who lives in, visits or is connected with our home. We expect every member of our team — and everyone who works with us — to share that commitment.
How safeguarding shapes our home
- Safer recruitment, including enhanced DBS checks, references and employment history verification for all staff.
- Clear routines, consistent adults and a calm, predictable environment where young people feel safe enough to speak up.
- Ongoing safeguarding training and reflective practice within the team.
- Close working with local authority safeguarding partners, social workers and other professionals.
- Young people are actively taught how to raise concerns, and are given access to independent advocates.
- Careful recording, reporting and review of any concerns, however small they may seem.
